Tales from Yugoslavia

This page is dedicated to the great number of stories I've heard from my grandmother (my 'baba') and my grandfather (my 'dedo') about their childhood / young adult life back in Macedonia. Before they moved to Canada in 1958, they lived in what was known at the time as Yugoslavia, the amalgamation of the present-day countries of Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia + Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Montenegro. In the period between 1925 and 1958, a change from a monarchy to socialism, a Balkan unification, and the advent of World War II lead to many interesting stories. Written in perspective of the story-teller.
